Women's Ministry is one of the strongest pillars around which our church is built. Throughout the year, we provide many opportunities to go on outings together and even learn new life skills, one generation passing on to the next. Whether you are married or single, young or gracefully aged, new to the church or a life-long believer, you will be at home here with your sisters in Christ. (Psalms 126:2)
Ladies' Bible Study
Ladies' Bible Study takes place every Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. at the church. This is an opportunity for us to worship, study the Bible, ask questions, and grow in our understanding and knowledge of Jesus. This is also a great way to get to know some other women like you in a small group setting. From September through May we study several different series. Free childcare is provided. The current studies offered are: "Restore my Heart - God's Passionate Love for His Bride" with Jan Hall, and "Made to Crave - Satisfying Your Deepest Desire with God, not Food" with Pam Opperman.
One of the favorite activities in Women’s Ministry is the annual Spring Retreat. Each year there is a weekend set aside to spend making new friendships, seeking the Lord and creating memories that will last forever.
Sister to Sister Newsletter
The Sister to Sister newsletter is a monthly publication that is written by several different columnists in the church. It is full of encouragements, poems, interesting facts, interviews and much more. Some of the feature columns are the Mystery Woman, Date Night Ideas and Woman of the Month.
There are several ministry opportunities to get involved with in Women’s Ministry. It is such a joy to join together with other women and build strong relationships through serving as a team. For more information or to join one of these ministry teams, click the online interest from here.
The following are some of the present ministry teams:
This team organizes a monthly outing to draw women together with like interests. Some of the outings may be a walking chocolate tour in downtown Portland, touring the tulip fields in Woodburn, a softball night, hiking, snow skiing or whatever creative ideas can be planned. The Activities Team also oversees the Women’s Ministry Fall kick-off in October, the Secret Sister Revelation party in January and another "Night Out" sometime in the spring.
If you love to craft, create and coordinate then this is the team for you! The Events Team oversees the two main Women’s Ministry events of the year. Being a part of this team allows you to build lasting relationships in a small group setting as you meet weekly leading up to these events.
Are you gifted in cooking and have a passion for serving others? The Meals Team is a ministry that offers help to families for a short term when the main caretaker is unable to provide the necessity of making dinner. Usually, due to a new birth, hospital stay or incapacitating health issues.
Do you enjoy writing, researching or editing? Then you are invited to become a part of the contributors to the Sister to Sister newsletter. This newsletter is published monthly as a part of the Columbia River Foursquare Women’s Ministry and includes articles featuring a Woman of the Month, Date Night Ideas, The Road to Friendship, a Mystery Woman, Secret Sisters, Humor section, Chef in Chiffon, Birthday Celebrations and more.
The Hospitality Team is split into two sections. The first team, Picnics/Potlucks, organizes the set-up, food coordination and clean-up of the church picnics and pot-lucks in the summer months. Traditionally there is one picnic a month in June, July and August at different parks in our community. The second team, Funeral/Church Receptions, is available to help serve families when they use the church facility for a reception following a funeral by providing set-up, serving of food provided, beverage preparation, and clean-up. This team also organizes the church reception pot-luck that takes place prior to the annual Family Meeting.
